The use of lasers to reduce
wrinkles around the lips and eyes, and even the entire face,
is one of the most significant advances in cosmetic surgery in
the last decade. The energy of the laser, usually a CO 2
(carbon dioxide) laser, is used to remove the top layers
of the skin and allow the skin to heal and actually re-pave
the surface with fresher, smoother skin. During the initial
healing period of seven to ten days, the patient must take
care of the resurfacing skin in a very diligent manner. After
that, redness will be present for at least two months, which
can be covered with makeup. The overall result for laser skin
resurfacing is very excellent, and represents the new
benchmark in treating facial skin wrinkles |
