Breast augmentation, also known as mammaplasty, is a surgery to enhance the size and shape of a woman’s breast, or to improve symmetry of the breasts. It is performed for a number of reasons including:

• correcting a reduction in breast volume due to weight loss or after pregnancy,
• reconstruction following a masectomy,
• simply increasing breast size.
